PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. define wind as air in motion.
  2. describe the effects of wind on the body.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

We breathe in and breathe out air.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Pieces of paper
  2. Water
  3. Container
  4. Thread
  5. Gum
  6. Cardboard, etc.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

ACTIVITIES 1 – IDENTIFY A BALL OR BALLOON 

ACTIVITIES 2 – WHAT IS INSIDE THE BALL AND BALLOON

ACTIVITIES 3 – BLOW THE PIECE OF PAPER BEFORE YOU 

 

ACTIVITIES 4 – WHAT HAPPENS TO THE PIECE OF PAPER 

The piece of paper move.

Tell the pupils the movement of paper by blowing air is called wind, that’s air in motion. 

 

ACTIVITIES 5 – CAN YOU PLAY THE BALL WITH AIR INSIDE?

MEANING OF WIND 

Wind is air in motion.

 

ACTIVITIES 6 – DEMONSTRATE AND IDENTIFY THE EFFECTS OF MOVING AIR ON THE LEAVES, PIECE OF PAPER, DUST AND ON THE BODY 

Air is around us. We cannot see it but we feel the air in motion on our body. Just like the air blow carried leaves, paper and other particular, It also enable us to move or carry our body from one place to another.

Note – the keyword is movement. 

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Defines wind as air in motion.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – Engage pupils in class discussion on the meaning of wind.
  4. Guides pupils to mention the effect of wind on the body.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Identify the effect of wind on leaves, pieces of papers, dust particles, faces of people etc.
  6. Guides pupils to demonstrate that air does work.
  7. Pupil’s Activities – Demonstrate how air work.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
