THEME: PHYSICAL FITNESS AND BODY CONDITIONING PROGRAMMES 

TOPIC: MEASURING PHYSICAL FITNESS COMPONENTS 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

measure their endurance strength and speed levels.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned physical fitness components.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Video clip

2. Charts

3. Mats

4. Benches

5. Pull up bars

6. Track

7. Stop watch etc.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Demonstrates the measurement of endurance, strength and speed.

Pupil’s Activities – Watch the teacher’s demonstration and practice.

3. Supervises and Measures their physical fitness levels.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

Pupils to:
