PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the students should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain the meaning of honesty.

2. state attributes of honesty.

3. explain the benefits of honesty.

4. discuss the consequences of dishonesty.

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Books on moral instructions

2. Dictionary

3. Newspaper stories

4. Documentaries

5. Posters and cartoons.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

MEANING OF HONESTY 

Honesty is the act of being truthful to one another in all things.

Honesty also involves being trustworthy, loyal, fair, and sincere.  Or the quality or fact of being honest; uprightness and fairness.

ATTRIBUTES/CHARACTERISTICS OF HONESTY 

The characteristics of honesty include:

1. Courage

2. Truthfulness

3. Loyal

4. Reliability

5. Godliness

BENEFITS OF HONESTY 

1. Honesty builds faith and confidence.

2. Honesty enables you to earn people trust and respect.

3. Honesty enables people to be free with one another.

4. Honesty gives you control over other people.

5. Honesty reliefs one’s stress.

 

MEANING OF DISHONESTY

Dishonesty is to act without honesty. It is characterized by a lack of probity, deceitfulness, cheating, lying, or being deliberately deceptive or a lack in integrity, fraudulent practices, corruption, examination malpractice, etc.

CONSEQUENCES OF DISHONESTY

1. Dishonesty builds false personalities.

2. Dishonesty destroys relationships.

3. Dishonesty destroys credibility.

4. Dishonesty destroys lives.

5. Dishonesty does not last.

6. Dishonesty brings shame to family and friends.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the students some questions;

2. Guides discussion on:

• the meaning and attributes of honesty.
• benefits of honesty and consequences of dishonesty.

Student’s Activities – Contribute to class discussion.

2. Arranges for a guest to talk to the students about honesty.

Student’s Activities – Recount instances that honesty paid off.  Write short story on the value of honesty.

3. Guides students role play to demonstrate honest behaviour.

Student’s Activities – Role play to demonstrate honesty.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
