TOPIC: USES OF COMPUTER CABLES 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

  1. Describe computers cables.
  2. Identify different computer systems.
  3. Explain different types of computer cables.
  4. State the uses of computer cables.
  5. Connect parts of various computer systems together using appropriate cables.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Functional computers system
  2. Different types of computer cables

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

INTRODUCTION

COMPUTER CABLES 

Computer cables are wires used for connecting the various parts of the computer together.

 

DIFFERENT TYPES OF COMPUTER CABLES 

 

1. Power cables

Power cables connect the system unit and the printer to the source of electricity.

 

2. USB cables

Use cables connect keyboard, mouse and speakers to the system unit.

 

3. Ethernet Cables 

This is a computer network cable. Ethernet cables connect devices within a local area network, like PCs, routers, and switches.

 

 

All these cables are connected to some of these ports.

 

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Lets pupils identify different types of computer cables;

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify power cables, USB cables and ethernet cables.

3. Gives various parts of computer systems to be connected together;

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify computer, printer, mouse, etc.

4. Guides the pupils identify and describe the uses of computer cables;

Pupil’s Activities – Pupils to identify and describe the uses of computer cables.

6. Guides them to describe the computer cables.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
