TOPIC: PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION ON KITCHEN HYGIENE
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:
1. mention five items used in cleaning a kitchen.
2. discuss care and storage of cleaning equipments used in the kitchen.
ENTRY BEHAVIOR
The pupils are required to already know cleanliness.
Link –First Term Examination home economics,Kitchen Hygiene,
ways of maintaining kitchen hygiene.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. Mop
2. Floor cloth
3. Mop bucket
4. Soap
5. Water
6. Scrubbing brush
7. Long and short broom
8. Dust pan
9. Trash bin
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CARE AND STORAGE OF CLEANING EQUIPMENTS USED IN THE KITCHEN
Dustin
1. Rinse out with plenty of water.
2. Add disinfectant.
3. Allow to dry in the sun.
4. Replace when damaged.
Broom1. Wash with soapy water.
2. Add disinfectant.
3. Allow to dry in the sun.
4. Replace when damaged.
Packer1. Wash with soapy water.
2. Add disinfectant.
3. Allow to dry in the sun.
4. Replace when damaged.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Guides pupils to list materials needed for cleaning the kitchen.
Pupil’s Activities – List materials needed for cleaning the cleaning.
3. Discusses care and storage of cleaning equipment used in the kitchen.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the discussion.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – common method of cooking.
