TOPIC – REASONS FOR GIVING NATIONAL HONOURS 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives – state the reasons for giving members of the society National Honours. 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Pictures, Newspaper cutting, Video clips, Posters

 

METHOD OF TEACHING 

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

NATIONAL HONOURS AWARD 

National Honours Award is an award on members of the society for their contributions towards national development.

Nigerian National Honours are a set of orders and decorations conferred upon Nigerians and friends of Nigeria every year.

 

REASONS FOR GIVING NATIONAL HONOURS

National awards are giving for different reasons, some of them are –

 

1. Hard work

2. Obedience

3. Patriotism

4. Encouragement

5. Meritorious service

6. Outstanding features

7. Selfless service

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION

 

LESSON 3 – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks pupils to explain the meaning of National Honours Award.

 

Pupil’s Activities – Define National Honours Award.

3. Leads a discuss on the reasons for National Honours Award.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the discussion.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
