TOPIC – THE USES OF PRESSING IRON 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. identify a pressing iron.
  2. state what it is used for.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

Iron is used for ironing clothes.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing a pressing iron.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

ACTIVITIES 1 – IDENTIFY PRESSING IRON AMONG THE FOLLOWING SIMPLE MACHINES 

 

ACTIVITIES 2 – STATE USE OF PRESSING IRON 

It is used to make cloth smooth.

 

ACTIVITIES 3 – IF AVAILABLE, LEAD THE PUPILS TO USE PRESSING IRON

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Guides pupils to identify pressing iron.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – Identify a pressing iron.
  4. Leads them to know what it is used for.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Say what it is used for.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
