2. apply regular and irregular verbs to make a simple sentences.

3. give examples regular and irregular verbs and use them to make a simple sentences.

4. use regular and irregular verbs in writing and speaking.

The pupils can define a verb as an action word.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION 

Regular Verbs are the verbs which are simple past and past participle forms, while irregular verbs are verbs which have different or same present and past tense forms.

 

 

EXAMPLES OF REGULAR VERBS 

When the last letter of the word ends with a consonant, then add – ed to change its form:

Dress    Dressed     Dressed

Look     Looked       Looked

Act         Acted          Acted

Stop       Stopped      Stopped

Grab     Grabbed      Grabbed

Jump    Jumped       Jumped

Rip        Ripped        Ripped

When the last letter of the word ends with a vowel, then add – d to change its form:

When the last letter of the word ends with y, then add -ied to change its form:

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pair depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher organized the pupils into four groups depending on the size of the class.

4. Teacher displays charts showing regular and irregular verbs for the pupils study and analyze the changes form.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils study and analyze how a verb changes from one form to another

5. Teacher uses the charts to introduce the lesson and leads a discussion on regular and irregular verbs.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of regular and irregular verbs.

6. Teacher guides pupils to make simple sentences with regular and irregular verbs.
