PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. name some local fruits and vegetables.

2. mention some uses of fruits and vegetables.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can state the importance of vegetable crops.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Posters, charts and fresh specimen of local vegetables.

 

 

2. Vegetables e.g. lettuce, cabbage, etc.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY QUESTIONS 

Teacher’s Activities – Lead the pupils to discuss and state the uses of vegetable crops.

Pupil’s Activities – Active participation in the class discussion.

Teacher’s Activities – Listen the pupils, comment and note the points of discussion on the board.

 

USES OF VEGETABLES 

Vegetable crops are the parts of plants that produce the leaves, stems and roots as food people eat. For examples, water leaf, bitter leaf, etc.

 

 

The uses of vegetable crops are –

1. Vegetables supply vitamins and mineral to the body.

2. Vegetables aid food digestion.

3. Vegetables protect body and prevent body from ill – health.

4. Vegetables serve as food.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks pupils to state the uses of vegetable crops.

Pupil’s Activities – State the uses of vegetable crops.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
