CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s Activities – Ask the pupils, what are the uses of water to human beings.
Pupil’s response – State the uses of water.
Teacher’s remark – Water is important to all living things – human begins, plants and animals. Celebrate the pupils active participation and quick response to questions. Discuss the uses of water to human beings, plants and animals.

USES OF WATER TO HUMAN BEGINS
Water are used for –
1. Drinking
2. Cooking
3. Washing
4. Bathing
5. Swimming
6. Farming
7. Removing waste from the body.
8. Regulating the body’s temperature.
9. Business or commercial purposes.
USES OF WATER TO PLANTS
Like human beings, plants need water to survive and grow. Most importantly, it is used for –
1. Structure
- Water enable the plants to grow into different parts. For example, leaves, buds, stems, flowers, fruits, roots, tubers, and rhizomes.
2. Photosynthesis
- Water enables the plants to manufacture their foods from energy the sun.
3. Translocation
- Translocation is the movement of water through parts of the plants, especially where they are needed. Water enables the plants to move nutrients where they needed.
4. Transpiration
- Transpiration is the water evaporation from aerial parts, such as leaves, stems and flowers. This water contains oxygen.
USES OF WATER TO ANIMALS
Just like human beings, animals need water for their body to function well. They need water for –
1. Drinking
2. Digestion
3. Removing waste from the body.
4. Swimming
5. Regulating the body’s temperature.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Ask pupils to state the uses of water to human beings.
Pupil’s Activities – Response to the teacher’s questions.
3. Discuss the uses of water to plants and animals.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the class discussion.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
