By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. narrate the history of volleyball in Nigeria;
2. state the facilities and equipment;
3. draw and label the volleyball ball court with the dimensions.
ENTRY BEHAVIOR
The pupils can throw and hit ball in the air with their hands.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
MEANING OF VOLLEYBALL GAME
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net.
The object of the game is to serve the ball to an opponent’s court in such a way that They are unable to return it. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team’s court under organized rules.
HISTORY OF VOLLEYBALL IN NIGERIA
It is not ascertain how and when exactly the game volleyball got to Nigeria. Many claimed to have played the game of volleyball as far back as early 1940s.
The clear picture, however, has been the fact that the game was one of the recreational activities enjoyed by Nigerian mission schools, colleges and Armed Forces before well organised competitive volleyball started in the 1960s.
On May 27th, 1971, Nigeria played her first international volleyball match against Togo during the Olympic African zonal preminary knockout matches the 1972, Munich Games.
Volleyball is now played with high esteem in very many primary, secondary and particularly, in most Nigerian tertiary institutions.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions:
2. Narrates the history of volleyball in Nigeria.
3. Discusses the facilities and equipment;

4. Draws and labels volleyball court.
