CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Computer misuse is the wrong or illegal use of a computer or the internet. It happens when a person uses a computer to cause harm, steal information, cheat, or break rules. It is also known as computer abuse. The abuse is done by children, adults and the old. Most of the children used computer for improper activities such as watching p0rnography, bullying, etc. while the adult and the old used it for both improper and illegal activities such as fraud, stealing identity, etc.
AREAS OF COMPUTER MISUSE
There are the different ways or places where computers are wrongly used.
1. Hacking – Breaking into other people’s computers or accounts without permission.
2. Cyber bullying – Using computers or the internet to harass, threaten, or insult others.
3. Internet Fraud (Scamming) – Using a computer to deceive people and steal money or information.
4. Identity Theft – Stealing someone’s personal information, such as passwords or bank details.
5. Spreading Computer Viruses – Creating or sending harmful programs that damage computers or data.
6. Software Piracy – Copying or using software without permission or payment.
7. Plagiarism – Copying other people’s work from the internet and claiming it as your own.
8. Examination Malpractice – Using computers or phones to cheat during examinations.

10. Impersonation – Stealing people identity to incriminate them in their criminal activities.

LESSON 2 – THE REASONS WHY PEOPLE ABUSE THE COMPUTERS
People misuse computers for many reasons. Some of the common reasons are:
1. Lack of Computer Knowledge – Some people do not know the right way to use computers, so they use them wrongly.
2. Greed for Money – Many people misuse computers to steal money or information through fraud and scams.
3. Peer Pressure – Friends may encourage others to misuse computers, especially on social media.
4. Curiosity – Some people misuse computers because they want to try illegal things just to see how they work.
5. Lack of Rules and Control – When there are no strict rules or supervision, people may misuse computers.
6. Desire for Fame or Attention – Some misuse computers to gain popularity, likes, or attention online.
7. Revenge or Anger – People may misuse computers to hurt others because they are angry.
8. Easy Access to the Internet – The internet is easily available, making it easy to misuse computers.

LESSON 3 – HOW TO PREVENT COMPUTER ABUSE OR MISUSE
Computer misuse can be reduced if people follow good rules and habits. Below are ways to prevent it:
1. Computer Education – Teach people the correct and safe way to use computers and the internet.
2. Parental and Teacher Supervision – Parents and teachers should monitor how children use computers.
3. Strong Passwords – Use strong and secret passwords to protect accounts and information.
4. Install Security Software – Use antivirus and security programs to protect computers from viruses and hackers.
5. Follow Rules and Laws – People should obey computer and internet rules.
6. Avoid Sharing Personal Information – Do not share passwords, phone numbers, or bank details online.
7. Block Harmful Websites – Use filters or parental control tools to block bad websites.
8. Report Bad Activities – Report cyberbullying, hacking, or fraud to parents, teachers, or authorities.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions.
2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher displays chart showing different computer users in the banks, offices, schools, etc.
4. Teacher lets the groups or pairs examine the chart and describe the activities of the computer users.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils discuss various uses of computer by different users.
5. Teacher uses the chart and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a discussion on computer abuse and areas where computers are being misuse.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction, understand the concept of the lesson as they participate accordingly.
6. Teacher guides the pupils to identify and state the reasons why people misuse the computers.

7. Teacher leads a discussion on how the children and adults can abuse the computer and asks them to suggest ways to prevent the abuse.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion, discuss how children and adults abuse the computer in their communities and suggests ways to prevent the abuse.
8. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
