CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

All animals reproduce their young ones séxually. This happens when a male and a female animal of the same type mate. After mating, the female may lay eggs as in the case of chickens, ducks and other animals like fishes, insects and frogs. These eggs later hatch into young animals.

In other animals like goats, cows, dogs, etc., after the male and the female mate, the female carries the pregnancy and later gives birth to the young animal alive.

Like other living things, human beings reproduce. It’s what keeps the population going. In humans, this happens when the male and female reproductive systems work together to make a baby.

HOMEWORK – Find out the meaning of reproductive system.

LESSON 2 – MEANING AND STRUCTURES OF MALE AND FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS

Reproduction is the process by which a living organism produces its young ones or likeness.

This is known as male and female reproductive organs

HOMEWORK – Find out the functions of male and female reproductive systems.

LESSON 3 – FUNCTIONS OF MALE AND FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS

There are two (2) reproductive organs –

1. Male Reproductive Organ

2. Female Reproductive Organ

MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN

Male reproductive organ produce sperms and transfer it to the female reproductive organ to get fertilized and produce the new one of their kind.

FUNCTIONS OF MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS

1. It produces spérm.

2. It transfers spérms to the ovum.

FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN

Female reproductive organ functions in producing ovum (eggs) and when get fuse with the male gamete (spérms), it produces the young ones and nurture it till the full growth before birth.

FUNCTIONS OF FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN

1. it produces ovum (eggs).

2. It receives and fertilizes the male spérms.

3. It supports the development of the growing embryo.

4. It provides nourishment to the infants (newborn) by secreting milk in mammary glands (bréast).

HOMEWORK – Find out the meaning of respiration system.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils relevant questions on lesson taught or learn.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils into two or more groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher asks pupils to briefly discuss how the animals reproduce their young ones (as learnt in primary 5).

Pupil’s activities – The pupils briefly discuss how the animals reproduce their young ones.

4. Teacher uses a chart showing male and female reproductive system and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson, leads a guided class discussion on the meaning of reproductive systems.

5. Teacher asks the pupils draw and label male and female reproductive system as displayed on the board.

6. Teacher uses the chart to lead a guided discussion on the meaning and functions of reproductive system in male and female.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions write as instructed.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – responsible parenthood.

Next Lesson – Meaning of Puberty – Changes in Males and Famales During Puberty | Physical and Emotional Changes in Puberty | Importance of Puberty in Child Development Primary 6 (Basic 6) Term 1 Week 10 Basic Science and Technology
