TOPIC: Waste Recycling

LEARNING AREA 

1. Meaning of Recycling

2. Different Ways of Recycling

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to:

1. meaning of waste recycling.

2. suggest different ways of recycling waste and the advantages of recycling waste.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned waste disposal.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

picture/charts of waste disposal van

Buckets, wheel barrows

Drums, shovel, spade, etc.

Waste dumps, bottles, paper, sticks, empty can, water, wood Ash, leaf litters etc.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

REUSING WASTE (RECYCLING)

Recycling means resource recovery. By the process of recycling, a number of useful products can be obtained from the solid wastes.

 

 

MEANING OF RECYCLING

Recycling is a way of reusing waste products.

 

ADVANTAGES OF WASTE RECYCLING

Some important products obtainable from solid wastes are described below:

1. Prevent potentially useful materials being thrown away.

2. It reduces the consumption of fresh raw materials.

3. It saves the environment from pollution.

4. It is cheaper.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss with the pupils meaning of recycling.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen, ask questions and discuss waste and how to recycle waste.

3. Guides pupils to state ways of recycling waste;

4. Arranges for a guest to talk on recycling waste;

  1. To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
