PREVIOUS LESSON – MEANING AND TYPES OF CITIZENSHIP (PRIMARY 4)

TOPIC: RIGHTS OF A CITIZEN 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to should be able to state the rights of a citizen.

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned citizen.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of charts of citizenship rights.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every Nigerian has rights, duties and privileges, which are provided for in the hundreds of laws that exist in Nigeria.

These rights are contained in Chapter IV of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and are officially known as Fundamental Rights.

RIGHTS OF A CITIZEN 

1. Freedom of speech

2. Freedom of worship

3. Freedom of movement

4. Right to life

5. Right to dignity

6. Right person liberty

7. Right to free hearing

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides pupils to identify their rights as a citizen.

Pupil’s Activities – state the rights of a citizen.

CONCLUSION

• To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
