By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. explain the meaning of civic education.

2. identify and list the components of civic education.

3. explain the dimension of civic education.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of posters, pictures and video clips.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

CIVIC EDUCATION 

Civic Education teaches the right or benefits which an individual enjoys, also his duties to himself, society and government, the knowledge, attitude, values, norms, morals to make society survive and last.

Civic Education is that subject which teaches us about our society, about our rights, duties and obligations as citizens of our country, and the benefits which we should enjoy.

DIMENSION OF CIVIC EDUCATION 

1. Political.

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Leads pupils to mention some social problems.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify social problems.

3. Explains Civic Education as a subject.

Pupil’s Activities – Explain Civic Education as a subject.

4. Leads the pupils to discuss relevant components of civic education.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the component of Civic Education.

5. Leads and guides pupils to recite national anthem, pledge and identity some key words e.g. obey, love, faith and peace.

6. Guides pupils to explain the dimensions of civic education.

Pupil’s Activities – Role play situations that explain the components and dimensions of civic education.

7. Guides pupils to state why Civic is necessary.

Pupils Activities – State why Civic is necessary.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
