TOPIC: Sentence in the Passive Voice with/without agent

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

  1. change active sentences into passive voice.
  2. use the various tenses of the transitive to form sentences.
  3. use the passive without agents, where agents are not easy to identify or they wish to remain anonymous.

Examples

  • I cleaned the board becomes the board was cleaned by me.

Agent – me

  • Someone has stolen my pen becomes my pen has been stolen.

No agent mention, probably it is someone who stole the pen.

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Presents item meaningful context using dialogue.
  3. Guides pupils in reproducing the structure correctly.
  4. Asks pupils to turn a given sentence to active/passive form.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Make various sentences in the passive voice, at first with agents and without (with teacher’s help).
  6. Pupil’s Activities – Ask and answer questions.
