PREVIOUS LESSON – ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF FOREIGNERS IN OUR MIDST
TOPIC: GOVERNMENT POLICIES AND PROGRAMMES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:
- identify government policies and programmes;
- define NEEDS, due process and UBE.
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
- Posters from UBEC
- Course book
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
GOVERNMENT POLICIES AND PROGRAMMES
Government Policies and programmes of government refer to the plan of things the government wants ot do for the benefit of members of the public such as free education, good health, agriculture and employment..
Government has many programmes and policies, among are –
1. UBE means Universal Basic Education Programmes
2. NEEDS means National Economic Empowerment and Development and Strategy
3. Due process means a policy that ensures rules and regulations are strongly adhered to.
- To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Leads the pupils to identify government policies and programmes;
Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the identification of government policies and programmes.
3. Assists the pupils to state the meaning of the programmes;
Pupil’s Activities – Ask questions to clarify issues on the meaning of some government policies and programmes.
1. Mention two government policies and programmes;
2. Explains meaning of UBE, NEEDS and due process.
