PREVIOUS LESSON – CHARACTERISATION IN PLAY ACTING (PRIMARY 4)

TOPIC: TYPES OF CHARACTERISATION IN PLAY ACTING 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to identify two class of characters in a given play (e.g. round and flat character).

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. TV, video, VCD.
  2. Poster pertaining actors/actresses.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

TYPES OF CHARACTERS IN A ACTING 

The two common class of characters are –

Round character

Round character is the character who change with time and circumstance. This character is well known with many personality. The character is a well developed character.

 

Flat characters

Flat character is the character who do not change. Little is known about flat character because it is not fully developed

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains and write on the two common types of characters.

Pupil’s Activities – Note the difference between round and flat characters.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

 

LESSON EVALUATION

Pupils to list two common types of characters.
