PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. identify different patterns of movements.

2. identify safety rules for walking, running, jumping, etc.

3. state general safety rules for movements.

4. demonstrate correct movement patterns of shooting and heading.

5. perform basic movement such as bending and stretching.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Playground

2. balls, etc.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS A MOVEMENTS? 

A movement means moving from one place to another which include running, walking, jumping, etc.

 

BASIC MOVEMENT PATTERNS 

Basic Movement patterns are the regular changes that takes place in different parts of the body. The basic movement are as follows:

1. Walking

2. Running

3. Jumping

4. Shooting

5. Bending

6. Marching

7. Jogging

8. Leaping

9. Stepping

10. Hopping, etc.

 

 

LESSON 2 – SAFETY RULES FOR BASIC MOVEMENTS 

Safety rules are the conditions of being safe from get hurt, injury, or loss when walking, running, jumping, etc.

 

GENERAL SAFETY RULES FOR BASIC MOVEMENT PATTERNS 

1. Do not walk, run, jump, jogging, skipping, etc. bear footed.

2. Do not stretch your body beyond its limit.

3. Do not wait for the ball to come and hit your head, jump to head it.

4. Wear the appropriate sport kits when takin part in any game.

5. Understand safety rules for different sport.

 

SAFETY RULES FOR SOME BASIC MOVEMENT  

1. WALKING – When walking, put one foot in front (or behind) the other by supporting the body by one leg, then the other by swinging your arms gently as you move forward.

2. RUNNING – Your legs leap after the other as you move your hands fast when you run.

3. JUMPING – Take off on one foot and land on two or take off from two feet and land one one foot.

4. LEAPING – Lift both arms up as you move by lifting your legs as the same time.

5 STEPPING – Lift up one foot and putting it down in another spot, as in walking.

6. HOPPING – Lift up one leg and lean on the same as the other supports the body, then jump and land on the same foot.

 

 

PRESENTATION 

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the pupils have learned.

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher uses the children’s rhymes to engage activities that involve moving parts of the body such as… What are you doing… We are jumping….

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class activities.

4. Teacher uses these activities and the pupils respond to the activities introduce the lesson and leads a class discussion on the basic movements with more activities based.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion on the basic movements.

5. Teacher displays chart showing athletics with their full kits and asks the pupils, why the athletics wear canvas, skill guard, etc.

6. Teacher uses the pupils responses in number 5 to lead basic safety rules for basic movements.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils state the dangers  for not following the safety rules and appreciate the importance of for following the safety rules.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

Teacher asks the pupils to, 

1. demonstrate 3 basic movements.
