LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. observe and identify organ of touching (skin).

2. identify objects by touching and feeling.

3. identify things or objects that are soft and hard, smooth and rough, sharp and blunt, etc.

4. state the importance of skin.

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils can identify and differentiate between the smooth or rough surface.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of things or objects that are soft and hard, smooth and rough, sharp and blunt, etc.

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class to touch  and feeling the following –

• water (chill, water and hot)

• papers (soft and hard, smooth and rough)

• clothes (soft and hard)

• woods (smooth and rough)

• irons (smooth and rough, sharp and blunt)

• tiles (smooth and rough), etc.

SENSE OF TOUCH (SKIN) 

The skin is part of the sense of organs that is used to touch or feel the texture of various substances.

IMPORTANCE OF SKIN 

The importance of skin as sense of touch are as follows:

1. It protects the body against germs.

2. It regulates body temperature.

3. It enables touch sensations.

LESSON 2 – SENSE OF TOUCH ACTIVITIES 

FURTHER PRACTICE ON SENSE OF TOUCH ON WOODS, TILES AND IRONS 

Teacher organizes activities on the sense of touch on,

1. Soft or Hard

2. Smooth or Rough

3. Chill, Warm or Hot

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions.

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher provides items of different textures, shapes, temperature and pressure.

Pupil’s Activities – Feel or touch their cheeks and heads, tissue paper, touch different types of paper/cardboards, touch cold and warm objects or water.

4. Teacher guides pupils to feel the texture of water, sand, plates, etc.

Pupil’s Activities – Determine the texture of water, sand, plates, etc.

5. Teacher uses pupil’s responses to the activities in step 3 to introduce the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.

6. Teacher leads a discussion on sense of touch and its importance.

Pupil’s Activities – Describe the sense of touch and analyze its importance.

7. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions and write as instructed.

CONCLUSION

• To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
