PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

recognize, read and write from 1 – 200.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Charts of written whole numbers.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES (25 minutes) 

RECOGNITION OF NUMBERS 1 – 200

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities 1 – Displays a chart showing 1 – 100 for the pupils to reading and identify as dictate or instructed. 10 – 20 minutes depend on the size of the class.

LESSON EVALUATION/CLASS WORK – 20 minutes 

Read numbers in monetary, for example – ₦1, ₦2, ₦3, ₦4, – ₦200.

Note – Because of the duration of the lesson, guide the pupils to read in units – ₦1, ₦2 – ₦9, tens – ₦10, ₦20 – ₦100 or ₦11, ₦12 – ₦30, etc.

 

LESSON TWO – READING AND WRITING OF NUMBERS 1 – 200

READING NUMBERS 1 – 200

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Displays a chart showing 1 – 100 for the pupils to reading and identify as dictate or instructed. 10 – 20 minutes depend on the size of the class.

 

WRITING OF NUMBERS 1 – 200 – 20 minutes 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Guides the pupils to write numbers 1 – 200.

 

LESSON THREE – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT – 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides pupils to read, count and write numbers 1 – 200.

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
