By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1.explain Jesus’ teaching on Christians as the light of the world.

2. state the importance of Christians as the light of the world.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can state uses of light and describe Christians as the light of the world.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing Jesus teaching the words of God.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display chart showing Jesus teaching people the words of God and ask the pupils based on the previous lesson, what was His teaching all about?

Pupil’s Activities – He teaches the Christians to become the light of the world.

Teacher’s remark – Jesus teaches the Christians to become active faith in God. Also, to become the light of this world. Give a great cheer for active participation and summary the lesson on the board.

 

JESUS TEACHING ON CHRISTIANS AS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Christians as the Light of the World means the light of Christ and the brightness of God shining in their lives.

 

 

Jesus taught his followers that they are the light of the world.

Reading Matthew 5 : 14 – 16

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

 

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF CHRISTIANS AS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD 

Christians as the Light of the World means the light of Christ and the brightness of God shining in their lives. This light must shine by –

1. being a good Christians everywhere.

2. teaching others the words of God.

3. helping others in need.

4. helping others become the salt and light of the world.

 

REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks pupils to state the uses of salt.

Pupil’s Activities – State the uses of salt.

3. Explains Jesus teaching about Christians as the salt of the earth.

 

 

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s explanation.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

Find out from your parents, how to welcome visitors.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
