The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. Pupils’ textbook.
2. Pictures or photographs that show different categories of drugs.
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Drugs are any substance other than food which when taken can change the body function.
Some drugs are used for treatment, prevention or cure for sickness or diseases.
Drugs can be inform of liquid (toxic, injections, creams or drips), solid (tables) and gas (inhalers).
CATEGORIES OF DRUGS
1. Legal Drugs
These are drugs that approved, recommended and prescribed by the doctor. Examples are valium 5, chloroquine and augmentin.
2. Socially Acceptable Drugs
These are commonly used drugs without doctor’s prescription. The drugs are used for pain and headaches. Examples are paracetamol, cough syrup, etc. The are approved drugs.
3. Illegal Drugs
These drugs are not approved by the law. The government forbids people from using them. For example, heroin and Cocaine. The arrest and punish whoever caught with these drugs.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Explains the meaning of drug.
Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s explanation.
3. Asks questions to lead pupils to list categories of drugs.
Pupil’s Activities – Answer the teacher’s questions and asks questions too.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
