WEEK 9 – MODERATION

MEANING OF MODERATION

Moderation means doing things in a balanced way, not too much and not too little. It is about avoiding extremes in behaviour, eating, speaking, or using things.

 

EXAMPLES OF MODERATION 

1. Eating the right amount of food, not too much or too little.

2. Speaking politely without shouting or being too quiet.

3. Using money wisely without being wasteful or greedy.

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF MODERATION 

Balance – Avoiding extremes in behaviour or actions

Self-control – Controlling desires and impulses

Wisdom – Making good decisions about what is enough

Patience – Waiting and not rushing to do everything at once

Avoiding excess – Not being greedy, wasteful, or careless

Fairness – Treating people and resources equally without favouritism

 

HOW TO PRACTICE MODERATION 

1. Eat the right quantity of food and avoid overeating.

2. Speak politely and avoid shouting.

3. Spend money wisely without waste.

4. Work hard but also rest.

5. Avoid too much play or too much study.
