CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
We use computers, smartphones, tablets, and the Internet every day for learning, communication, and entertainment. To use these digital technologies effectively, we need digital skills.
Digital skills help us operate digital devices, search for information, communicate online, create digital content, and solve problems using technology. In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning, components, and importance of digital skills.
LESSON 1 – MEANING OF DIGITAL SKILLS
Digital skills are the knowledge and practical abilities needed to use digital devices, computers, smartphones, tablets, software, and the Internet effectively, safely, and responsibly.
Digital skills help people perform different tasks using technology in school, at home, and in the workplace.
LESSON 2 – COMPONENTS OF DIGITAL SKILLS
The major components of digital skills include:
1. Basic Computer Skills – The ability to operate a computer, use the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and other computer parts.
2. Internet Browsing Skills – The ability to search for information, visit websites, and use search engines effectively.
3. Digital Communication Skills – The ability to communicate using email, social media, video calls, chat applications, and other online platforms.
4. Word Processing Skills – The ability to create, edit, save, and print documents using word processing software such as Microsoft Word.
5. File Management Skills – The ability to create folders, save files, rename files, copy, move, and delete files.

SUMMARY
