CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

People use computers not only for typing documents,, calculations and browsing the internet but also for drawing and designing pictures. One of the easiest drawing programs available on a computer is Microsoft Paint. It allows users to draw lines, shapes, colour pictures, insert text, erase mistakes, and save their work.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of Microsoft Paint, identify its tools, and use it to create simple drawings.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF COMPUTER DRAWING

Computer drawing is the process of creating pictures, diagrams, or designs using a computer and drawing software.

MEANING OF MICROSOFT PAINT

Microsoft Paint is a simple drawing application included in Microsoft Windows. It allows users to draw, colour, edit, and save pictures.

PARTS OF THE MICROSOFT PAINT WINDOW

1. Title Bar – Displays the name of the Paint program and the current drawing file.

2. Quick Access Toolbar – Provides quick access to frequently used commands such as Save, Undo, and Redo.

3. Ribbon – Contains groups of tools and commands used for drawing, colouring, selecting, and editing pictures.

4. Drawing Area (Canvas) – The white space where users draw, paint, write, and create pictures.

5. Colour Palette – Displays different colours that users can choose for drawing, filling shapes, and colouring objects.

6. Status Bar – Shows useful information such as the picture size, zoom level, and cursor position.

7. Scroll Bars – Allow users to move up, down, left, or right to view different parts of a large drawing that does not fit on the screen.

SUMMARY
