LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of confidentiality.

2. state the importance of confidentiality.

3. demonstrate how to show confidentiality.

 

 

LEARNING BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can demonstrate how to keep something secret.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing documents with confidentiality stamps.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

MEANING OF SECURITY 

Security is the state of being free from all dangers or harms at home, in the school or anywhere you are. That’s, feeling safe at all time.

For example, when you at home with the doors or gate are locked and you feel free, safe and relax.

Insecurity is when you are not feeling safe or free from dangers.

The following are the elements of security – availability, integrity, authenticity confidentiality, protection, etc.

 

MEANING OF CONFIDENTIALITY

Confidentiality means ability to keep secret.

 

HOW DO WE SHOW CONFIDENTIALITY

1. Make use of safe cabinet.

2. Ensure that documents are properly sealed with appropriate materials.

3. Indicate confidentiality on any documents which contains are private.

4. Make use of strong password in case of electronic materials.

5. Use confidential waste bins and shredders.

6. Let your yes be Yes and no be NO.

7. Listen to details before responding and making any decisions.

8. Talk less and think more. That’s, think before you talk.

9. Beware of people within and around you.

10. Trust only yourself on private informations.

 

THINGS WE MUST NOT KEEP PRIVATE

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF CONFIDENTIALITY

1. It builds trust.

2. It promotes confident.

3. It protects reputation and integrity.

4. It prevents abuse of information.

5. It prevents all for form of intruders.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher allocates to the groups or pairs different materials used for ensuring confidentiality. For example – padlock, gum, stapler, seal, etc.

4. Teacher lets identify their materials and state their importance.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners identify and discuss some of the materials to ensure confidentiality.

 

5. Teacher listens to the groups or pairs and uses their relevant responses to introduce the lesson – meaning and importance of confidentiality.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.

6. Teacher guides pupils to explain the meaning of confidentiality and demonstrate how to ensuring confidentiality.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners explain the meaning of confidentiality and demonstrate how to ensuring confidentiality.

7. Teacher leads a discussion on the importance of confidentiality.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners analyze the importance of confidentiality in security.

8. Summarizes the lessons on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
