ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

Pupils have previously learned about expressing personal feelings, opinions, greetings, and social expressions in English Studies.

They already know how to:

  • express happiness and feelings.
  • construct simple sentences.
  • communicate in social situations.

This lesson builds on that knowledge by teaching pupils how to express happiness for other people’s success using congratulatory expressions such as Well done, Congratulations, I am happy for you, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Congratulations is an expression used to show happiness when someone achieves success or receives good news.

We use congratulations when someone:

  • passes an examination.
  • wins a competition.
  • gets a promotion or job.
  • graduates from school.
  • celebrates a special event like a birthday.

In this lesson, pupils will learn how to use expressions of congratulations in sentences and conversations correctly.

Expressions of Congratulations

We can express congratulations using words such as:

  • Congratulations!
  • Well done!
  • I am happy for you.
  • I am proud of you.
  • Keep it up!
  • Bravo!
