TOPIC – IDENTIFICATION OF FAMILIAR SOUNDS IN WORDS
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
1. read familiar words and text.
2. compare words with similar sounds.
3. apply long and short vowel rule correctly.
4. decode one – syllable word and
5. monitor own reading and self corrects.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Guides pupils to track familiar sounds –
- from words read aloud.
- when reading own writing and
- in spoken words.
Pupil’s Activities –
- Track sound in spoken words in texts read.
- Read assigned books and stories.
3. Provide pupils with appropriate drills and exercises to improve their reading.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate in reading drills and activities and self corrects own reading.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
