LEARNING OUTCOME 

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1. find the squares of whole numbers greater than 50.

2. solve problems involving squares of numbers greater than 50.

3. find the square roots of perfect squares greater than 400.

 

RATIONALE

The square of a number is the result of multiplying that number by itself. Square roots are usually denoted by the symbol, √. For example, the square root of 9 is written as √9.The square root of a number is the number when multiply by itself gives the number under the square root sign.

There is need for the pupils understand and appreciate the usefulness of square and square root.

 

 

LEARNING MATERIALS 

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of squares and square roots chart.

 

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

The pupils have the knowledge to multiplication.
