CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Artificial intelligence, or AI, is like having a smart robot or computer program that can think and learn just like a human. It’s a way to make machines do tasks that would normally require human intelligence, such as recognizing faces, playing games, and understanding speech.
Just like how we learn and adapt to new information, AI can do the same but at a much faster pace. So, in simple terms, artificial intelligence is about giving machines the ability to think and learn like humans do.
AREA WHERE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) ARE APPLICABLE
Artificial intelligence (AI) are application, software programs, devices or machines that are used to perform specific tasks. AI is uses in places such as –
1. Transportation – AI is being used to develop self-driving cars and improve traffic management. For example – traffic lights.
2. Healthcare – AI is also playing an increasingly important role in healthcare. AI-powered tools can help doctors diagnose diseases, develop new treatments, and provide personalized care to patients. For example – blood pressure monitors, thermometers, glucometers, stethoscopes, X-ray machines, and MRI scanners.
3. Education – AI could be used in education to personalize learning, improve student engagement, and automate administrative tasks for schools and other organizations. For example – Duolingo that adapt to a student’s pace, Intelligent Tutoring Systems that offer one-on-one support, Automated Grading Tools that reduce teacher workload, and Chatbots that provide instant student support.
4. Finance – AI can help financial services such as personalize services and products, create opportunities, manage risk and fraud, enable transparency and compliance, and automate operations and reduce costs. For example – Fraud Detection, Chatbots, ect.
5. Manufacturing – AI can be used in manufacturing to improved efficiency, increased productivity and improved quality. For examples – Detect Defects in real-time, Predictive Maintenance that forecasts equipment failure to prevent downtime, etc.
6. Business Intelligence – AI is play an important role in business intelligence (BI). AI-powered BI tools which help businesses collect, analyze, and visualize data more efficiently and effectively .
7. Retail – AI is being used to personalize the shopping experience, recommend products, and manage inventory. For example – Inventory Scanning Robots.
8. Energy – AI is used to improve energy efficiency and predict energy demand. For example – Prepaid Meter.
9. Government – AI is being used to improve public safety, detect crime, and provide citizen services.

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson by asking relevant questions based on what has been taught or learnt.
2. Teacher organizes the pupils into two or more groups depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher displays showing different places that Artificial Intelligence (AI) are being used for the pupils to identify and describe the importance of such places.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify places like school, hospital, etc. and describe the importance of such places.
4. Teacher uses the charts displayed and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson, leads and guides a class discussion on places where Artificial Intelligence (AI) are used.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction, understand and state places where AI are applicable.
5. Teacher explains the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our present world and how are used for growth and development.
