PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. identify a story line in a story or folktale.
2. create or make up a short story.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can made up a story from story pictures book.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of stories in a book; Illustrations of characters in the story; Television; Video tapes and CDs.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Storytelling is the description of social and cultural activity that happened in the past. It is also the art of telling or writing about past. Storytelling can be verbal, written or in picture.
REASONS FOR STORYTELLING
People tell stories for the following reasons –
1. To teach us moral value and lesson.
2. To entertain us.
3. To educate us about our environment.
4. To caution us about our behaviours.
5. To respect one another.
6. To reserve our culture.
7. To tolerate one another.
LESSON 2 – MAKE UP A SHORT STORY
Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities
Making up a story line with any one or two of the following themes – tolerance, service to the nation, truthfulness, respect, obedience, etc. Or follow the link to choose stories – Nigerian Fairy Tales, Folk Tales and Fables
LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)
As stated in the performance objectives or lesson evaluation.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher organizes the pupils into groups depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher gives each group a story pictures book. Note, the book must not be same.
4. Teacher asks pupils as groups to make up a story from the book with appropriate title.
5. Teacher uses the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and lead a class discussion on the meaning of storytelling based on their activities.
6. Teacher develops a story line idea – obedience and make up a short story around it.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils follow story line on obedience
7. Teacher leads and guides pupils to tell a story based on their environment, events or things they watch on television.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils tell story based on their environment, events or things they watch on television.
8. The teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

Weekly Assessment should be based on the make up stories or story lines.
