TOPIC: Virtuous Acts in Islam 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. list some behaviours that are virtues for Muslims.
2. explain the behaviours and give examples.
3.  explain the benefits to the individuals and the community.
4. apply them in their daily life.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. A chart containing list of virtuous acts.
2. Verses of the Qur’an and some Hadith that relate to these acts.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

VIRTUE

Virtue is a behaviour showing high moral excellence or standards.

VIRTUOUS ACTS IN ISLAM 

1. Selfishness
2. Moderation
3.  Modesty
4.  Doing good and refraining evil

EXAMPLE OF BAD DEEDS 

1. Dishonesty
2. Addiction
3. Lying
4. Stealing
5. Disobedience
6. Cultism
7. Prostitution
8. Disregard

EFFECTS OF BAD BEHAVIOURS 

1. Value disorientation
2. High crime rate
3. Inefficiency
4. Disease
5. Low investment
6. No play dates with friends
7. Loss of privilege
8. No access to a favorite activity

PRESENTATION

• To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Defines what is meant by virtue.
3. Pupil’s Activities – Listen attentively.
4. Provides examples of virtuous acts or conducts.
5. Pupil’s Activities – Give example of good deeds.
6.  Gives examples of those that lead virtuous life.
7.  Gives examples of those that lived evil life and how they ended.
8. Pupil’s Activities – Give example of bad deeds.
9. States advantages of living virtuous life.
10. Mentions consequences of living an evil life.
11. Mention famous Muslims you know and explain why they are famous ten virtuous acts.

CONCLUSION

• To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – Al Asma Ul Husna.

LESSON EVALUATION

Pupils to:

1. list some behaviours that are virtuous from Muslims.
2. explain the good conduct and give example.
3.  mention the benefit to individuals and for their community.
4.  demonstrate some of these qualities.
