LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. explain the meaning of safety and cleanliness.
2. state the safety precautions.
3. mention ways of keeping the neighbourhood safe and clean.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can state some of the ways of keeping the neighbourhood safe and clean.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing some of the ways keeping the neighbourhood safe and clean.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Neighbourhood is a community with a town where people live.
A clean Community is a safe community.
It is the duties and responsibilities of both of the children, young and old to ensure that their community is clean and safe.
MEANING OF SAFETY
Safety means keeping yourself and others free from harm or danger.
That’s, being careful not to fall, bump or run into things.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Safety precaution is the actions taken to ensure that we are protected from possible danger or injury.
Some of the safety precautions are,
1. Wearing sunglass
2. Wearing hand gloves
3. Wearing safety boots
4. Wear hamlet
5. Fasten seat belt
6. Follow safety symbols or signs
7. Be tidy
8. Inspect all tools or equipments before use
9. Always clean your mess
10. Always use the right tools and equipments
11. Always your personal protective equipment (PPE), such as nose mask etc.
12. Don’t work in the dark.
LESSON 2 – MEANING OF CLEANLINESS
Cleanliness is the act of being clean without dirt, dust, stains and bad smells.
It is essential for everyone to learn about cleanliness and stay clean.
WAYS MAINTAIN GENERAL BODY CLEANLINESS
1. Always taking regular bath with soap and sponge.
2. Brush your teeth twice a day. Before meal in the morning and after meal at night.
3. Cutting your nails from time to time.
4. Washing your hand before and after meals.
5. Always wash your hands with soap immediately after toilet.
6. Wash your clothes.
7. Maintain a clean and good hair style.
8. Always use clean water taking your bath, washing your hands and cloth.
LESSON 3 – WAYS OF KEEPING OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD SAFE AND CLEAN
Practice what preach and,
1. Plant flowers and trees.
2. Keeping your home and its surroundings clean.
3. Pick up the litter and trash all around the ground.
4. Maintain clean drainage system.
5. Avoid washing car in the driveway.
6. Call the security and law enforcement incase of insecurity.
7. Report any unusual activities to the security and policeman.
8. Avoid strangers.
9. Don’t talk or ask strangers for help.
10. Ask questions.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps: the teacher,
1. Revises the previous lesson based the pupil’s related knowledge or understanding.
2. Takes pupils for a walk with the school compound.
3. Asks pupils to identify the safe place to play.
4. Lets pupils state the reasons for their choice.
