5. attempt 70% (and above) of weekly assessment correctly.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

MEANING OF HOUSE 

A house is a building in which people live. Or house is a place built to live in as family.

Different houses are built for different purposes. For example, it is built for shelters, schools, hospitals, offices, etc.

 

Houses are built with different materials. For example – houses built with blocks, wood, iron, etc. by people, cave by early man and animals, nest or den by animals, cage built for animals, etc.

Some are simple and small while other are big and magnificent.

 

TYPES OF HOUSES 

There are different types of houses in our community. Different house with different features. These features defined the types of houses –

1. Single rooms

2. Duplex

3. Mansion

4. Traditional house

5. Detached house

6. Semi – detached house

7. Terrace house

8. Pen house

9. Bungalow

10. Primitive house – for example – caves, mud houses, hut and tents.

 

PARTS OF HOUSE 

Examples of the parts of a house are –

1. Bedroom

2. Living room or sitting room

3. Kitchen

4. Pantry

5. Store room

6. Toilet

7. Bathroom

 

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF OWNING A HOUSE

People owns a house for different reasons. For example,

 

1. For safety or security

2. For investments

3. For businesses

4. For storage

5. For manufacturing

6. For study, research and training

7. For medical purposes

8. For educational purposes

9. For relaxation

8. For sports and games, etc.

 

WHY MANY PEOPLE DO NOT OWN HOUSES 

The reasons why people do not own houses including –

1. Poverty

2. Cost of building materials

3. Difficulty of obtaining loans

4. Problems of land allocation

5. Unemployment

6. Government policies

7. Land ownership

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

1. Displays charts showing different types of houses.

2. Asks pupils to identify and define types of houses they lived.

 

Pupil’s Activities – Mention Types of houses in the town and villages.

3. Discuss the meaning and types of houses.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the class discussion

4. Leads pupils to identify and state the importance of owing a house.

Pupil’s Activities – State the importance of owing a house.

5. Asks pupils to state the reasons why people do not owned a house.

Pupil’s Activities – State the reasons why people do not owned a house.

6. Summaries the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as teacher instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
