ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
Pupils have previously learned the meaning and brief history of Judo, the equipment used in Judo, the basic skills such as bowing, proper standing posture, safe falling (breakfall), movement and balance, and the importance of Judo.
This lesson builds on that knowledge by introducing the basic rules of Judo, teaching pupils the common Judo terminologies, and giving them the opportunity to practise simple Judo skills safely while following the rules of the game.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Judo is not only about learning self-defence but also about following rules, showing respect, and practising safely. Every Judo player must understand the rules of the game and the special words used during training and competitions.
In this lesson, pupils will learn the basic rules of Judo, some common Judo terminologies, and participate in practical demonstrations of simple Judo skills.
LESSON 2 – BASIC RULES OF JUDO
1. Always bow before and after practice or competition.
2. Wear the proper Judogi (Judo uniform).
3. Practise only on a Judo mat (Tatami).
4. Follow the referee’s or instructor’s instructions.
5. Do not use dangerous or illegal techniques.
6. Respect your opponent at all times.
7. Do not push, kick, punch, or bite your opponent.
8. Stop immediately when the referee says “Mate.”
9. Keep the Judo uniform and mat clean.
10. Observe all safety rules to avoid injuries.

LESSON 2 AND LESSON 3 – PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION OF JUDO
The teacher demonstrates simple Judo activities while pupils observe and practise safely under supervision.
1. Warm-Up Exercises
- Jog slowly around the mat.
- Stretch the arms, shoulders, waist, and legs.
- Rotate the wrists and ankles.
2. Bowing (Rei)
- Stand facing your partner.
- Bow before and after practice.
3. Proper Standing Position
- Stand with feet slightly apart.
- Bend the knees slightly.
- Maintain good balance.
4. Safe Falling (Ukemi)
- Practise forward and backward breakfalls.
- Slap the mat with both hands while falling safely.
5. Movement and Balance
- Move forward, backward, left, and right while maintaining balance.
6. Simple Holding Technique
- Practise simple holding positions with a partner under the teacher’s supervision.

- Walk slowly.
- Stretch the body.
- Take deep breaths to relax.
