CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

The Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) is a uniform security agency established by a law of the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2016 to assist the Police and other security agencies to maintain law and order in the state.

Neighbourhood is also known as community, it is a place or area where people lives as a community. Security is the state of being free from danger, threat or crime.

MEANING OF NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY

Neighbourhood security is a community security that helps to protect the entire community from crime. Neighbourhood security is also called community security.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY

According to the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corp, the following are aims and objectives of neighbourhood security,

1. Gathering information about crimes, crime in progress, suspicious activities and crime suspects among other things.

2. Making available such relevant information on rimes, crime in progress, suspicious activities and crime suspects to the police or other security agencies that require it.

3. Putting structure in place to ensure that hoodlums and cult groups do not have the opportunity to operate.

4. Undertaking routine motorized patrol day and night.

5. Reducing the crime rate and ensuring that offenders are identified and made to account for their misdeeds.

6. Following up on arrest of offenders to the court and ensuring justice.

7. Timely reporting of suspicious activities and crimes in progress to the police or other security agencies and improving relationship between the police and the community as it concerns law enforcement.

8. Contributing to maintaining community peace.

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE (BENEFITS) OF NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY

Neighbourhood security assists the Police and other security agencies –

1. to maintain law and order within neighbourhood security.

2. to fight crime for a safer neighbourhood.

3. to create and enlighten the neighbourhood about security of their lives and properties.

4. to bring light to an important issue in the neighborhood.

5. to support the police in detecting crime.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. Revises the previous lesson based the pupil’s related knowledge or  understanding.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in group depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays a chart or picture showing Lagos State Neighbourhood Security Officers.

4. Teacher lets the pupils as group identify and state the functions of the neighbourhood security officers.

5. Teacher uses the chart or picture and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a class discuss on the importance of neighbourhood security in the society.

6. Teacher outlines and discuss the aim and objectives of neighbourhood security in Lagos State.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the lesson evaluation and write as instructed.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
