INTRODUCTION
Music is an organized sound that is pleasant.
It is a written signs representing vocal or instrumental sound.
SOURCE OF MUSIC
The source of music can be classified into two (2) sources,
1. Primary source
2. Secondary source
PRIMARY SOURCE OF MUSIC
Primary sources reveal information about the production and performance of music, aural traditions, histories of musical composition, notation, and technique, information about music theory and about individuals’ and cultures’ technological advancement, economy, education, cognition, and more.

Examples of primary sources:
1. Manuscript music sources
2. Musical instruments
3. Sheet music
4. Composer’s notes, correspondence or autobiographies
5. Musical performances/recordings/films of live performances
SECONDARY SOURCE OF MUSIC
Secondary sources offer an analysis or a restatement of primary sources.
Examples of secondary sources:
1. Dictionaries
2. Encyclopedias
3. Textbooks
4. Monographs and articles that interpret, analyze, or review research works
IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC
The importance of music are as follows:
1. It is pleasing to the body and soul.
2. It brings people together.
3. It improves your health and wellbeing.
4. It improves confidence and resilience.
5. It is fun.
6. It is used for communication.
MEANING OF SOUND
Sound is anything that can be heard by people or animals.
It is a form of energy that is made up of vibration or sound wave.
TYPES OF SOUND
There are many different types of sound,
1. Audible and inaudible sounds
2. Pleasant and unpleasant sounds
3. Soft and loud sounds
4. Noise and musical sounds
1. AUDIBLE AND INAUDIBLE SOUNDS
Audible sounds is a sound that is loud enough to be heard.
Inaudible sound is a sound that is not loud enough to be heard.
2. PLEASANT AND UNPLEASANT SOUNDS
Pleasant sound is a sound that is good and in harmony with human hearing.
Unpleasant sound is a sound that is not good and not harmony with human hearing.
3. SOFT AND LOUD SOUNDS
Soft sound is a sound that has a very low volume while loud sound is a sound has a very high volume.
4. NOISE AND MUSICAL SOUNDS
Noise is a unpleasant sound while music is a pleasant sound.
Music can be both pleasant and unpleasant sounds.
SOURCE OF SOUND/THINGS THAT PRODUCE SOUND
There are different source of sound,
1. Voice sound
2. Instrumental sound
3. Natural sound
1. VOICE SOUNDS
Voice is a sound produced by human or animals.
2. INSTRUMENTAL SOUNDS
Instrumental sound is sound produced by musical instruments like drums, piano, etc.
3. NATURAL SOUNDS
Natural sound is sound produced by nature such as the trees, air, thunder, rivers, occurs, etc.

Noise is a sound that is irritating and unpleasant for hearing.
There are different source of noise,
1. Loud music
2. Transportation (traffic, rail, airplanes, etc.)
3. Generator
4. People
5. Fighting
6. Crisis such as accidents
7. Crying
8. Pain
IMPORTANCE OF NOISE
The importance of noise are as follows:
1. It is a form of expression such as happiness, pain, crying, loss of family member, etc.
2. It serves as an emergency call for help or support to save, rescue or assist other people from danger, sickness, etc.
3. It serves as a mean of getting attention or make a point.
4. It is a call for celebration.
DISADVANTAGES OF NOISE
The disadvantages of noise are as follows:
1. Hypertension
2. High blood pressure
3. Heart attack
4. Sleeplessness or sleep disturbance
5. Stress
6. distraction
7. Loss of hearing
