CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
MEANING OF RESOURCES
Resources are the productive wealth and goods of a nation.
Resources can be defined as the wealth of the Nation.
Examples of resource are – air, water, food, plants, animals, minerals, metals, etc.
TYPES OF RESOURCE
The types of resource are –
1. Natural resources
2. Human resources
3. Environmental resources
4. Mineral resources
5. Vegetation resources
NATURAL RESOURCES
Natural resources are resources that exist in nature and can be create or made by name.
Examples of natural resources are air, water, food, plants, animals, minerals, metals, and every other things that exists in nature.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Human resources are also known as human capital or labour.
They are the available workforce of an organization, business sector, industry, or economy.
Human resources also include – skills, semi – skills and unskilled labours.
ENVIRONMENT RESOURCES
Environmental are resources are physical and natural resources that are valuable to man and its environment.
For examples – any materials, services, information, network, clean land, air, and water.
It also includes – the abilities of land, air, and water to absorb any waste products in the environment.
MINERAL RESOURCES
Natural resources are the available raw materials used for the production of goods and services.
Examples are – iron, copper, aluminum, crude oil, natural gas, sand, salt, gold, diamond, etc.
VEGETATION RESOURCES
Vegetation resources are resources on land covered by natural plants.
Examples of plants are – trees, flowers, grasses, etc.
LESSON 2 – RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION OR DISTRIBUTION OF RESOURCES
Resource distribution is the distribution of available resources across the country.
For example – agricultural resources, Nigeria has abundant cattle and groundnuts in the North, cocoa and kolanut in the west, palm oil in the east and rubber in the south.
Cattles and groundnuts taken to the South while kolanut and palm oil are taken to the North.
REASONS FOR UNEVEN RESOURCES DISTRIBUTION
The reasons for uneven resource distribution are –

PROBLEMS OF OVER CONCENTRATION OF INDUSTRIES
The problems of too many industries in a particular area are –

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays sample or chart showing some of the available resources in Nigeria.
3. Lets pupils in group or pair identify and name each of the resources.
4. Also, asks them to state where of the resources can be found within and around the school community.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify and state some of the available resources in their community with specific locations.
5. Uses the chart and the group or pair responses to introduce the lesson – meaning and types of resources.
6. Leads pupils to discuss the meaning of resources and types of resources.
Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction, explain and state different types of resources with appropriate examples.
7. Helps pupils in group or pair to make a list of different types of resources within and around the school community.
Pupil’s Activities – Make a list of different types of resources within and around the school community.
8. Leads pupils to identify and discuss why some of the resources are not available in their community.
Pupil’s Activities – State some of the factors responsible for unevenly resources distribution.
9. Uses pupil’s participation in activity 8 to introduce and explain the meaning of resource distribution with appropriate examples.

12. Summarizes each lesson on the board.
