PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. explain what livestock is.

2. give examples of livestock animals.

3. differentiate between livestock and wildlife animals.

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned Farm animal.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

chart of different farm animals.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION

Agriculture is the clearing and cultivation of land, planting crops and economic trees, rearing animals and fishing for the benefits of man.

The part of agriculture that has to do rearing of animals is called livestock farming.

MEANING OF LIVESTOCK

Livestock are animals kept and raised especially on a farm and for profit.

EXAMPLES OF LIVESTOCK ANIMALS 

1. Poultry

2. Cattle

3. Fishing

4. Goat

5. Piggery

6. Rabbit

7. Snail

8. Crap

9. Sheep

10. Donkey

LESSON TWO – REVISION AND WEEK 5 LESSON ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Engages pupils in discussing the meaning of livestock.

Pupil’s Activities – Explain what livestock means.

3. Asks pupils to state some animals that be raised on farm and to state why animals like lion, elephant, wolf, etc. cannot be raised like other farm animals.

4. Pupil’s Activities – Differentiate between livestock and wildlife animals.

CONCLUSION

• To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – component of animal feed.
