1. explain the concept of neighbourhood security personnel.

2. state types of neighbourhood security personnel.

3. formulate tips and ways of relating to security personnel in the community.

The pupils can identify some of the Neighbourhood security personnels.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Neighbourhood is also known a community is a place or area where people lives as a community.

Security is the state of being free from danger, threat or crime.

 

 

MEANING OF NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY PERSONNEL

Neighbourhood security personnel is a community security personnel that helps to protect the entire community from crime.

Neighbourhood security is also called local security personnel.

 

EXAMPLES OF NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY PERSONNEL 

1. Local Guard

2. Vigilant Group

3. Neighbourhood Watch

4. Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps

 

 

LESSON 2 – NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY PERSONNEL

LOCAL GUARD 

Local guards is a residential guard commonly known as gateman.

He protects life and prosperity within their building and prevent uninvited guest to gain access to the premises.

 

VIGILANTE GROUP 

Vigilante group is a community security who protects life and prosperity in the community and prevent all forms of criminal behaviour.

 

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH 

Neighbourhood security watch is a group of security who watches over the neighborhood’s properties as a way of preventing crime.

 

LAGOS STATE NEIGHBOURHOOD CORPS 

The Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) is a uniformed security agency established by a law of the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2016 to assist the police and other security agencies to maintain law and order in the state.

 

 

LESSON 3 – HOW TO RELATE WITH NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY PERSONNELS IN THE COMMUNITY

1. Avoid panic

2. Be clear about any situation.

3. Respect the neighbourhood security personnels.

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. Revises the previous lesson based the pupil’s related knowledge or  understanding.
