The pupils can identify and state members of their family.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing father, mother and their children.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

MEANING OF A FAMILY

Family is made up of father, mother and their children.

 

A family is made of other people who are related to one another by blood.

This family is called extended family.

The members of family are as follows:

 

1. Father

2. Mother

3. Children

4. Uncles

5. Aunts

6. Cousins

7. Nephews

8. Niece

9. Grandparent

10. Inlaw

 

 

LESSON 2 – MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY

1. FATHER

Father is the male parent of the family.

 

2. MOTHER

Mother is the female parent of the family.

 

3. CHILDREN

Children are the dependant ages of the family.

 

4. UNCLES

Uncle is the brother of one’s father or mother.

 

5. AUNTS

Aunt is the sister of one’s father or mother.

 

6. COUSINS 

Cousin are the children of one’s uncle or aunt.

 

7. NEPHEWS 

Nephew is the son of one’s brother, sister, brother-in-law or sister-in-law.

 

8. NIECES

Niece is the daughter of one’s brother, sister, brother-in-law or sister-in-law.

 

9. GRANDPARENTS

Grandparent is the parent of one’s father or mother.

They are also called grandfather or grandmother.

 

10. IN LAWS

In law is the relationship by marriage.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

 

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher displays chart showing father, mother and their children.

4. Teacher lets pupils as groups or pairs to identify the father, mother and their children.

5. Teacher asks pupils few questions about their father and mother for academic purposes. For example, occupations.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners appreciate the importance of their parents and other members of the family.

6. Teacher uses the chart and pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.

7. Teacher leads a discussion on the meaning of family.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners explain the meaning of family.

 

8. Teacher uses another chart to introduce members to the family.

9. Teacher guides pupils to identify members of their family.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners identify and appreciate the members of their family.

10. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners participate actively in the summary of the lessons by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
