CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Family is made up of father, mother and their children.
A family that is made of other people who are related to one another by blood. This family is called extended family.
There are two types of family.
1. Nuclear family
2. Extended family
STRUCTURE OF A NUCLEAR FAMILY
Nuclear family is one of the major types of family with the following structure –

MEANING OF NUCLEAR FAMILY
Nuclear Family is the family that is made up father, mother and their children.
It is the smallest types of family.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.
3. Teacher displays chart showing structure of nuclear family.
4. Teacher lets pupils identify and describe each members of the family.
Pupil’s Activities – Learners identify and describe the family.
5. Teacher listens to the pupils and uses their relevant responses to introduce the lesson – nuclear family.
Pupil’s Activities – Learners pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.
