By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –

2. state the types of organization and cooperation.

3. explain why people live together.

4. describe the various functions of organization and cooperation.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can state some of the reasons why people live together.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing organization of people living together.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

MEANING OF ORGANIZATION

An organization is a group of people who live and work together as a family, a community, a cooperation, or a government.

People live and work together for a particular purpose.

This purpose is achieved through cooperation.

 

MEANING OF COOPERATION 

A cooperation is the process of living and working together to achieve common goals.

The purpose of cooperation is to help one another to their goals.

 

 

TYPES OF ORGANIZATION

1. Formal Organization

2. Informal Organization

 

FORMAL ORGANIZATION

Formal organization is formed to serve a common or specific purpose.

 

INFORMAL ORGANIZATION

Formal organization is formed to serve individual needs or the needs of a particular group.

Both types of organisations achieved their goals by cooperation.

 

 

LESSON 2 – WHY PEOPLE LIVE TOGETHER? 

People live together for different reasons. Whether the formal or informal organisation, people live together to –

1. Inspire innovation

2. Improve infrastructure

3. Strengthen leadership

4. Empower the youths

5. Encourage diversity

6. Fight poverty

7. Improve standard of living

8. Create jobs

9. Strengthen judicial system

10. Foster cohesion

 

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,

1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in lesson review.

2. Displays chart showing a man doing a work by himself and a group of people working together to do a work.

3. Allows the pupils to analyze the chart.

4. Asks pupils state the importance of working alone and working in groups.

Pupil’s Activities – Analyze the chart and state the importance of working alone and working in groups.

5. Uses the chart and the pupils responses to introduce the lesson and discuss the concept of organization and cooperation.

Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention the lesson introduction and differentiate between organization and cooperation.

6. Explains each types of organisation and cooperation using Nigeria as a whole and different ethnic groups.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen attentively.

7. Using different illustrations to explain the functions of organization.

Pupil’s Activities – Analyze the functions of organization with appropriate examples within their locality.

8. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summarizes of the lesson and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
