PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. name the material used in drawing.

2.. identify still life objects.

3. name some natural objects.

4. list items found in their environment.

5. draw still life natural objects and landscapes.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Pencil, Crayon, Marker, Colored pens, Sketch pad, Paper, Cardboard sheets, Drawing boards, etc.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY QUESTIONS 

ACTIVITY 1

Teacher’s Activities – Based on the previous lesson, ask the pupils the following questions:

  • What is drawing?
  • State 5 materials used for drawing.
  • Mention 3 types of drawings.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the lesson review.

Teacher’s remark – Good job you. Participate in the pupil’s discussion and link the lesson to the current lesson.

In our previous lesson, we learnt meaning of drawing and types of drawing. With aid of diagrams, summary the previous lesson.

 

Drawing is a form of visual art. It is the act of making pictures of living and non – living things on drawing papers, cardboards, etc. using appropriate materials.

Materials used for drawing are pencil, ink, easer, etc.

There are different types of drawing

1. Life drawing

2. Still life drawing

3. Landscape drawing

4. Natural drawing

5. Imaginative drawing

For this week, we are going to learning and drawing still life drawing, nature drawing, Imaginative and landscape drawing. 

 

ACTIVITY 2

Teacher’s Activities – Bring out your drawing materials, draw a chair and a table.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the drawing activities.

Teacher’s remark – Good job you. You have drawn a chair and a table. Chair and table are good examples of still life drawing because they are non living things.

Discuss the meaning of still life drawing and the pupils to state five (5) still life objects. Summary the key points on the board.

 

MEANING OF STILL LIFE DRAWING

Still life drawing is the drawing of man – made objects.

 

Objects of still life drawing are – cup, pencil, ball, ball, shoe, etc.

 

ASSIGNMENT

Draw and colour a house.

 

LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities – Display chart showing different imaginative drawing such as mermaid, animal with human head, etc. for the pupils to examine and state the features of drawings.

Pupil’s Activities – These drawings are drawings of half human and half animals.

Teacher’s remark – Correct. This kind of drawings are called imaginative drawing because they are not real.

Discus the meaning of imaginative drawing and ask the pupils give examples. Summary the key points on the board.

 

IMAGINATIVE DRAWING 

Imaginative drawing is a drawing from the memory or imagination.

 

It is called creative drawing. Some of these drawings are from the past are real while some are imagination.

For examples – Two rams fighting, a man with one eye, etc.

 

ASSIGNMENT

Draw and colour half human and half animals.

 

LESSON 3 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

ACTIVITY 1

Teacher’s Activities – Display chart showing some of the natural objects in our environment for the pupils to identify and give examples of other natural objects.

Note – The natural object can be fruit, trees, another, stone, etc.

Pupil’s Activities – Mango, banana, grass, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Good job you. The drawing is made of the things not created by made. This kind of drawing is known as nature drawing.

Lead them to explain and summary the key points on the board.

 

NATURAL DRAWING 

Natural drawing is drawing of natural objects in our environment. That’s are not man made objects.

 

Natural objects include both living and non living. They are the drawing of animals, flowers, rocks, trees, and streams.

 

ACTIVITY 2

Teacher’s Activities – Display chart showing part of the school environment, market, national park, etc. for the pupils to examine and describe.

Note – Try to get the drawing of familiar areas. 

Pupil’s Activities – This is our school compound. This is national stadium and theatre, etc.

Teacher’s remark – One clap cheer for yourself. All the drawings are drawings from our environment. They are known as landscape drawings.

Discuss the meaning and ask the pupils to drawing their immediate environment. Summary the key points on the board.

 

MEANING OF LANDSCAPES ENVIRONMENT ART/DRAWING 

Landscape drawing is the drawing from part of our environment.

It is also called scenery. For example – school environment, market area, national park, etc.

The drawing is the drawing of our environmental view.

 

DRAWING AND SHADING SHOWING THE EFFECT OF LIGHT AND SHADE 

As in lesson week 5 – Drawing and Shading with the Effect of Light and shade Primary 4 (Basic 4) – Cultural and Creative Arts

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. BTo introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Identify some landscape and natural objects.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify some natural object and landscape drawing.

3. Discuss items found in the environment.

4. Asks pupils to draw set objects (natural objects or landscapes).

Pupil’s Activities – Observe different landscape.

5. Asks people to draw a given objects.

Pupil’s Activities – Draw a landscape scene.

6. Summary of the key points on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
