CONTENT OF THE LESSON
WHO IS A FRIEND?
A friend is someone who supports and loves you as his/her self. A good friend is often someone who is there for you, who listens to you, and who you enjoy spending time with.
A friend who helps you when you really need help is a true friend.
WHO CAN BE YOUR FRIEND(S)?
Your friends are anyone who care and support you to learn and grow. The following are your best friends –
1. Parents – dad and mom
2. Brothers and sisters
3. Family members
4. Teacher
5. Classmate
6. Neighbour and their children, etc.
All of the above can be your favorite and best friends too.
HOW TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS
Here are ways you can play with your friends –
1. Share your toys with your friends. For example, if you have a ball, you can play your ball with your friends.
2. Play game with your friends. For example, you can play throw and catch game with your friends.
3. Take turns while playing. For example, you can let friend ride a your bicycle after you.
4. Help each other when playing. You can also support your friend when it is his/her turn.
5. Be kind, nice, and say good things to each other. Smile and clap for one another.
6. Have a great fun together!
BEING A KIND FRIEND
Being a kind friend means to be there for one another. That’s, being friendly, helpful, and caring for one another.
A kind friend smiles, shares, hugs, listens, loves and friendly to his/her friends.
HOW TO BE A KIND FRIEND?
1. Listen to your friends.
2. Ask your friends what they need.
3. show your friends that you care for them.
4. Keep in touch with your friends.
5. Tell them how you feel about them.
6. Be willing to make ask for your friends when you don’t see them.
7. Show you appreciate your friends when you share with one another.
LESSON PRESENTATION
To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. Teacher displays chart showing friends playing and sharing with one another.
2. Teacher point to the chart and lets the children identify and describe the pictures on the chart.
Children’s Activities – The children identify and describe friends playing with one another.
4. Teacher uses the chart and the children’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and explain the meaning of a friend and how to play with one another.
Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction, understand the meaning of a friend and understand how to play with one another.
5. Teacher explains and guides the children on how to be a kind friend.
Children’s Activities – The children understand and appreciate the importance of being a kind friend.
6. Teacher summarizes the lesson by asking the children questions based on the lesson taught and gives the children work to do at home.
Children’s Activities – The children participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions and do their homework at home.
