TOPIC – AS RECOMMENDED READING PASSAGES for Primary 1 – Primary Primary 3
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. listen carefully to a story.
2. deduce the main idea of the passage.
3. Analyse the purpose of the passage.
4. use evidence from the passage to explain supporting idea.
5. explain the meaning of unfamiliar words in the passage.
6. relate passage to the issues of nation value, for example – discipline.
7. answer all the questions in complete sentences.
ENTRY BEHAVIOURS
Most of the pupils can read.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. Course book or supplementary readers.
2. Relevant pictures or real objects.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
FOCUS READING:
A suitable passage selected from the course book based on regard and concern for interest of others.
TOPIC – NATION VALUES (DISCIPLINE)
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Reads the passage with expression and correct intonation.
Pupil’s Activities – Listen the passage carefully.
3. Lets the pupils the passage in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.
4. Allows the pupils to read individual.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the reading.
5. Guides the pupils to answer the questions in a complete sentence. For example – Question, what is your name? Answer in a complete sentence, My name is……
Pupil’s Activities – Answer all the questions in complete sentences.
6. Checks responses with make necessary corrections.
7. Summarize the lesson.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in lesson summary and copy the correct.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

Ask pupils to:
