CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTION

Modeling is the method of creating objects using soft clay and paper or clay mache.

 

MEANING OF PAPER MACHE

Paper Mache is the method of creating objects using mashed or pounded paper mixed with starch.

 

MATERIALS FOR MAKING PAPER MACHE 

1. paper (mashed)

 

 

2. Pestle and mortar

3. Starch

4. Mould

 

MATERIALS MADE FROM PAPER MACHE

1. Household utensils such as plates cups, decorations, vases, Wall hangings, moulded animals, etc.

2. Seedling pots

3. Big papier mache letters

4. Decorative rocks

5. Cups

3. Plates

4. Masks, etc.

 

MATERIALS MADE FROM CLAY MACHE

1. Flower Pot

2. Flower Vase

3  Coffee Mug

4. Wall Art

5. Pencil Holder

PROCESSES OF MODELLING USING CLAY/PAPER MACHE

PREPARING PAPER MACHE

1. Torn papers into pieces and soaked in water for at least 3 days.

 

 

2. Sieve the paper from the water.

3. Mashed or pound the paper together to give the desired result.

4. Add appropriate quantity of starch.

5. Paper Mache is ready for use.

 

PRODUCING OBJECTS USING PAPER MACHE 

Student’s Activities under the teacher’s supervision.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the students some questions; then, the teacher –

2. Shows samples of finished products.

3. Explains the methods of making models using paper mache.

Student’s Activities – Observe sample of finished product of paper mache and listen to the teacher’s explanation.

4. Demonstrates how to prepare paper mache.

Student’s Activities – Actively participate in discussion of modelling with paper mache.

5. Asks students to mould objects using paper mache.

Student’s Activities – Participate in modelling using paper mache.

6. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Student’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.
