LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. identify stranger in their environment.
2. explain what to do when dealing with a stranger.

The pupils can describe a stranger as someone they do not know or met before.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing unfamiliar people.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Security is the state of being free from all dangers or harms at home, in the school or anywhere you are. That’s, feeling safe at all time. Insecurity is when you are not feeling safe or free from dangers. It is also means lack of confidence.
Security alerts are signal send to inform people of the danger ahead.
WHO IS A STRANGER?
A stranger is any person you do not know at all or someone you have never met before.
TIPS ON HOW TO AVOID RELATING WITH STRANGERS
Here are tips on how to avoid relating with stranger,
1. Think fast and act smart.
2. Never talk to strangers.
3. Don’t accept gifts or sweets from a stranger.
4. Don’t take anything from strangers.
5. Don’t go anywhere with someone you don’t know.
LESSON 2 – TIPS ON HOW TO AVOID RELATING WITH STRANGERS (CONTINUATION)
6. Don’t play in dark places or anywhere that is free.
7. Don’t stay close to strangers. If he/she comes close to you, call for help or shout.
8. Stay in a group and don’t wander off on your own.
9. Trust your instinct. If you feel someone followed you, run or call for help.
10. Ask for help from trusted adult such as teacher, coach, police officer, other parent, or older siblings.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,
1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in lesson review.
2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher displays chart showing different people (known and unknown people).
4. Teacher asks the group to identify people on the chart.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils name the people they know on the chart.
5. Teacher uses the group’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction.
6. Teacher asks the pupils, who is a stranger?
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils respond to the question as unknown person.
7. Teacher uses the meaning of strange to discuss the tips on how to avoid relating with stranger.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion.
8. Summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in lesson summary by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.
